Fernando has always been fascinated with the development of common law in North America. For this reason, he has never found the studying of law tedious. Between his experience in Ecuador and Canada, Fernando has spent 16 years in pursuit of studying law. In addition to his law degree from Ecuador, Fernando holds a Master of Laws in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Calgary. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA).
Fernando is passionate about serving clients and assisting them to resolve their problem in an efficient manner. He believes that there is no benefit for a client or a lawyer if the lawyer unnecessarily drags out the process. Consequently, Fernando considers it important to build bridges and work on common ground with other parties as much as possible. However, he does not hesitate to advance a client’s position before the courts if that is the only reasonable forum to advocate for them.
Besides the study of law, Fernando volunteers as a board member with a condominium corporation in Calgary. He is an active member of the Westview Baptist Church where he gets involved in different church programs. Fernando has volunteered with the University of Calgary Alumni Weekend Sub-Committee. He is the first place winner of the 2020 Toastmasters Area F20 Humorous Speech Competition. Fernando has been married to his wife, Jasmin, for 11 years. They both enjoy doing Zumba together. During the summer, they spend most of their free time with their family at the lake in Moyie, BC.
